The Series
Gundam W (called Mobile Report Gundam Wing in the US) is actually an "alternate universe" series that takes place outside of the running time line of the Gundam series that has been going on for over 20 years now in Japan. This series is the only alternate universe series to have its own sequel though - Gundam Wing Endless Waltz, a 3 part OAV (Original Animated Video) which will be aired by the cartoon network in October of 2000 as a theatrical movie, containing extra footage that was not seen in the original release of Endless Waltz.
The Story
The Year is After Colony 195 and Operation Meteor has gone into effect. Currently the Earth and space are governed by the federation and its army called OZ. 5 Gundam pilots are sent to earth independant of eachother with one single purpose - destroy Oz! Even with the immense powers of the Gundam Mobile Suits, Oz will prove to be a formidable opponent, especially since the pilots will be up against the "Lightning Count" Zechs Merquise and Oz's leader Treize Khushrenada. Both are the deadliest of enemies each posessing a driving and extremely strong sense of justice and an unusal sense of honor.
As the story begins Heero Yuy is descending to earth and is intercepted by the Lightning Count - Let the battle begin.
The Gundams
The Gundams are a special type of Mobile Suit created out of an extremely strong and powerful alloy - Gundanium. The 5 main Gundams were created in secret by the creators of machines of war in retaliation for the assasination of the man who was to lead space into a new era of peace - Heero Yuy (whom the pilot of Wing Gundam was named after).
Each Gundam has a spceific function, and due to the pilots each varies drastically from the other. More information on the Individual Gundams and their pilots can be found in the characters section.
OZ
Oz is the army of mobile suits and ships used by the federation to maintain order throughout the colonies and earth. As the Battle with the Gundams begins Oz is their main enemy but as the battle ensues this status changes drastically. Oz is lead by an extremely skilled and cunning soldier, Treize Khushrenada, who has an extremely unique insight into humanity, war, and the struggle for peace.
As the story progresses we see the many faces of Oz, but towards the end of the series we truly see what Treize Khushrenada and Zechs were fighting over, and more importantly what they were fighting for.
